Technical Services Director

Job Summary

This position directs the work of managers in the delivery of Technical Services and has management responsibility for providing leadership, coordination and strategic planning to accomplish department/corporate goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

1. Direction/Management

• Direct establishment and implementation of applications information technology plans, programs and schedules.

• In conjunction with the VP of Technical Services, develop operating policies and approaches for Applications Services consistent with the goals of Adeptec’s IT function.

2. Technical Services

• Provide direction to employee management by applying specialized and technical knowledge in the implementation and execution of planned programs.

• Plan and oversee: research evaluations, integration of new technology, systems development and methodologies, data administration, capacity planning, training and technical support.

3. Client Liaison/Services

• Works with client management on priority setting and solutions of long term problems.

• Builds and maintains effective working relationship with business partners.

• Ensures business partner/customer satisfaction with all information technology services.

• Manages vendor relationships.

4. Planning and Development

• Ensures business partner/customer satisfaction with all information technology services.

• Responsible for departmental long-range planning and budgeting.

• Reviews and evaluates work of employee managers.

• Interviews and hires management team.

• Prepares formal performance reports and professional development plans; and recommends compensation.

• Partners and communicates with other IT directors to solve business problems with appropriate technology.

• Completes special projects or other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. College degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.

2. Application system design, development, testing experience in mainframe, mini, personal, and/or client server computing environments.

3. Management experience in information technology that includes production system responsibilities.

4. Ability to be on-call for after-hours work commitments in support of production requirements.

5. Ten years of IT experience with 8 or more years of IT management experience in the functional area.

6. Five years of demonstrated experience working with SolarWinds IT management software and monitoring tools.

7. SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) certification.
